The Unite for Change Florida Collegiate Consortium aims to empower college students throughout the state to create positive social change in their communities that will reduce sexual violence. The Consortium seeks to unite exceptional campus leaders who can impact change throughout their campus community and are driven to help create a cultural shift across the state of Florida. Through their vision and with the support of Unite for Change and assigned mentors, students will share ideas, suggest solutions and make plans to reduce sexual violence on college campuses throughout the state of Florida.
Why college students?
The collegiate population has the greatest opportunity to effectively shift the culture. In a small period of time, groups can successfully organize and impact their campus population. If given the tools, support and opportunity to unite they have the ability to create a community with zero tolerance for sexual violence.
How will this work?
Unite for Change will help develop a network of exceptional student leaders and professionals throughout the state. The consortium will formally connect members once a month to provide tools and resources to help them address sexual violence within their campus community. Students will be assigned a mentor who is a skilled professional currently serving in the field of anti-violence, student health and wellness, women's issues, law enforcement, etc. The consortium will provide student leaders a neutral and confidential environment to openly discuss challenges and seek solutions as well as share accomplishments.
